As Her Highnesses and I look toward our accession to the thrones and taking on the care of the Kingdom we also are looking forward to the future to find our heirs. To that we would like to invite all armored combatants to present themselves and their chosen consorts to use for entrance into our Crown list. This is the chance for all to stand and fight for your inspiration as you vie for the chance to bring honor to your consorts and inspiration as you test your mettle against Atlantia’s finest. The tournament will be held on May 2nd in Our Canton of Charlesbury Crossing and all letters of intent should be submitted by April 27th to ensure that we have the proper list of all entrants.
These letters should be sent via email to the Crown (TRM@atlantia.sca.org), the Royal Highnesses (TRH@atlantia.sca.org) and to the Kingdom Seneschal (seneschal@officer.atlantia.sca.org) and must include: the full, modern and SCA names of both fighter and consort, SCA membership numbers and expiration for both, physical mailing addresses, email addresses and phone numbers for both. If letters are received early, we will respond quickly; all responses to letters of intent will be sent by Wednesday April 29th.
As part of the entry into the Crown tournament, we are asking that all fighters and consort pairs either create or help sponsor the creation of an item so that our heirs might have largess with which to bestow as they need.
After signing in with the Minister of the List, all fighters and their Consorts will then present themselves to the Crown in a Grand Procession. Fighters should prepare a short statement in praise of their consort so that all might know their virtues and grace.
The Spring Crown Tournament will consist of four (4) preliminary lists followed by a double elimination tournament limited to sixteen (16) combatants. The four preliminary lists will be balanced to be an equal number of fighters and fought in a round robin format (each fighter in the list will fight every other fighter in the list). The list for this round will be fairly seeded by Order of Martial Precedence to spread fighters of all experience around each list (no list should be overly weighted with members of the Chivalry or Royal Peers). Double kills will be refought. At the conclusion of each list, the total number of wins for each fighter will be tallied and the top four (4) finishers will advance to the Tournament of 16. Ties will only be broken if necessary to determine the four best records.
NOTE: The preliminary round should be fought quickly, and combatants should be armored and prepared to fight; multiple fights will be conducted at the same time as field space allows. Fighters will be called to the list only twice before a forfeit is declared in the preliminary list.
In the semifinals, the fighter carrying a loss, must defeat the undefeated fighter twice to advance to the finals.
The finals will be fought best two of three fights. Open weapons format where each combatant is encouraged to bring their best style to win the day and become Heir to the Thrones of Atlantia.
Good luck to all entrants and we look forward to seeing the show of martial prowess and skill.
