More Fun to Be Had
Helga Ball
Sponsored by The Ladies of the Rose, Coordinated by Master Rufus Barbarossa
What do you get when ladies take the tackling from rugby, the kicking from soccer, the double-leg takedown from wrestling? You get Helga Ball.
After the new Heirs have been crowned, join the Ladies of the Rose on the main field as they sponsor a Helga Ball Tournament.
Helga Ball is a “Ladies Only” game that combines aspects of rugby, soccer, and wrestling and is based on a game from Roman times that was used to train Legionnaires. Similar games were played by Vikings as well.
Twelve to fifteen women face off against each other trying to score points with a cabbage. A cabbage is used as the ball and gentlemen act as the goal posts. Teams score points by carrying the cabbage in a scarf, skirt, or apron through the opposing team’s Goal Posts.

Night Golf
Sponsored by Golf House
Modern golf developed in Scotland from the Middle Ages onward. The earliest known reference to golf-like games date back to the 13th century. After feast, join Master Torquil MacTaggert (the only known golf laurel) on the sports field for a game of glow in the dark night golf. The style will be closest to the pin. (Parents- this will be a great way for your children to run out some energy before bedtime. Master Torquil will need their help in rounding up the golf balls after each round.)

Bardic Arts

“Bardic arts” is a generic term that encompasses a variety of performance arts within the SCA, including (but not limited to) solo and group singing, instrumental music, written and spoken poetry, story-telling, and other entertainment forms. Join us after feast around the firepit for some bardic fun.
Thrown Weapons

Step into the world of medieval adventure and test your skill at Thrown Weapons. Channel your inner warrior as you throw axes, knives, spears and plumbatas. Throw in honor of your favorite king and queen- past or present. Thrown Weapons will take place after the main tournament and before Court.
Atlatl

After the new heirs have been crowned, join us for the ultimate test of skill and accuracy! Experience the thrill of ancient hunting and warfare as you compete (or just experience the joy) of Atlatl. The atlatl is a throwing stick used to launch darts with incredible speed and precision. It predates the bow and arrow, offering a unique challenge for both beginners and seasoned medieval enthusiasts. Come test your aim with varied targets—can you hit the mark?
Consorts Breakfast
Coordinator: Mesternö Bessenyei Rozsa, OP
Hear now, good gentles of Atlantia! All consorts attending Atlantia’s Spring Crown Tournament on the first Saturday in May are invited to take part in a shared Consorts’ Breakfast. To create a welcoming table for all who bear the honor of inspiring our combatants, we ask that each consort contribute one dish to the combined breakfast spread. This may be something sweet or savory, homemade or purchased—whatever best suits your time and talents. Together, we will create a gracious and hearty morning repast worthy of the day’s noble endeavors. If you have questions about what to bring or need guidance, please reach out in advance. We look forward to sharing good food, good company, and the spirit of Atlantia with you.

Field of Roses

What is the Field of Roses?
The Field of Roses allows any challenger the opportunity to meet other like combatants and fight for the honor to send a rose to the recipient of their choosing. This is NOT A TOURNAMENT, it’s more like really enthusiastic open-form pick-ups.
The combatants decide on the victory condition (single bout, best two out of three, first death from an off-side blow, rock/paper/scissors, etc). When the victory condition has been met the victor will tell their opponent to whom the opponent should deliver a rose (“Please deliver a rose to my consort, {name of consort}. They’re over there {gestures} the one wearing blue.” or “Please deliver this rose to {list-person} with my compliments on a well run tournament.”).
The defeated combatant will then approach the Roses Pavilion and acquire a rose from the Regent (or designate). The defeated combatant would then deliver the rose to the designated recipient. This is a good opportunity to meet new people and practice gallantry and courtly graces.
